If you’ve found a dog
- Keep yourself and the dog safe. Only approach a calm dog if it is safe; do not approach an aggressive dog. Never put yourself at risk.
- Check the collar or tag for the owner’s contact details if safe. A local vet may be able to scan the dog for a microchip.
- Report a stray dog to the local council’s dog warden. In Guildford, if the dog is in your care, call SDK on 03444 828320; the council says this service is available 24 hours a day.
- If the dog is injured or ill, contact a vet or animal centre. If there is imminent danger, contact emergency services.
